Both are teams coming off a good win and Carlton for their first of the year. Mick Malthouse will coach his 715th league game breaking Collingwood legend Jock McHale’s record, an amazing mark that has stood since 1950. Collingwood and Carlton last met in Round 15, 2014 on a Sunday night at the MCG; the Magpies won by 15 points. Steele Sidebottom picked up the three Brownlow votes with 33 possessions and two goals. The Magpies have dominated the Blues in recent seasons winning the last four matches and eight of the last 10. Carlton’s most recent win was in Round 15, 2012.

Big game for both of these teams who need to start playing consistently. Geelong defeated Richmond in a thriller the last time they met, winning by five points in wet conditions in Round 7, 2014. The Cats have dominated the Tigers recently, winning the past 10 matches; Richmond’s last win was in Round 9, 2006. At the MCG, the teams have played 39 times with 21 wins to 18 in Geelong’s favour. The Cats have won the last six, while the Tigers’ last success over Geelong at the MCG was in 1999.

Who would have thought this game would have so much interest, but the Bulldogs have been amazing. Sydney were comfortable winners over Western Bulldogs the last time the sides met, winning by 63 points in Round 22, 2014 at Etihad Stadium. Lance Franklin booted six goals. The Swans have dominated in recent seasons winning the last six clashes by an average margin of 53 points. The Bulldogs have struggled to score against the Swans recently, failing to reach 100 points in each of the last eight meetings.

Q Clash 9 has never been more important for both teams… both clubs are without a win so far this year. The Suns and Lions last met in Round 18, 2014 at the Gabba and Brisbane won by 54 points. Tom Rockliff and Pearce Hanley starred with 47 and 45 possessions each. In the first 2014 Q clash, it was Gold Coast winning comfortably by 53 points in Round 3 at Metricon Stadium. Gary Ablett was best on ground with 38 possessions and three goals. There have been three games between the sides at Metricon Stadium with two wins to the Lions, but both were by close margins, 11 and two points. The Suns have been decimated with injuries and may struggle to get their first victory here.

Been a tough week for the Hawks…A coach under the pump and a poor performance for 3/4’s of their last game. The Kangaroos and Hawks last met in Round 16, 2014 at Etihad Stadium and North Melbourne upset the eventual premiers by 20 points. Drew Petrie kicked five goals and Nick Dal Santo had 36 possessions. Despite the 2014 result, Hawthorn has had the better of North Melbourne in recent seasons winning four of the last five contests and six of the last eight.

West Coast thrashed GWS Giants the last time the sides met winning by 111 points in Round 8, 2014 at Patersons Stadium. Josh Kennedy starred with 11 goals. The Eagles crushing win over the Giants last season was a record breaking afternoon, West Coast’s final score of 30.8 (188) was a new Patersons Stadium record and Josh Kennedy’s bag of 11 goals was also a new venue record. The three contests so far haven’t exactly been close, West Coast won by 81 points in 2012, 100 in 2013 and 111 last season. Not in the Giants favour is their history at Patersons Stadium, four games, four losses, losing margins of 95, 113, 111 and 76 points. Big test for the Giants here and I’m backing them to get close…but not to win!

The teams have played 18 times at Etihad Stadium and Essendon holds the advantage winning 11 games to seven. Star Saints Captain Nick Riewoldt enjoys an impressive record against Essendon kicking 52 goals in 16 games with four or more six times and a best of seven in 2004.

Cant wait for this one! It was one Showdown win each in 2014; Port Adelaide won by 54 points in Round 2 and the Crows got home by 23 in Round 15. Port  have won three of the last four Showdowns ending Adelaide’s sequence of three consecutive wins in 2011-12. This will be the 38th Showdown and Port Adelaide holds the advantage winning 20 games to 17. Small hiccup for the Crows last week which might just cast some doubt over the playing group. Both are top 4 teams and there won’t be much in this.
